Thomas Cuisine foodservice offers REAL food to every single person, whether it’s an on-site cafe, training table for sports, or dining within patient services in a healthcare setting. Our mission has always been providing excellent food and service, driven by the vision of our founder Thad Thomas.
Several years ago, prior to retiring, Thad penned his vision for Thomas Cuisine. He envisioned Thomas Cuisine as a company with a unique focus on health promotion in an industry of convenience foods. In his vision statement, he told us to, “Create and build a company that is considered unique, special and different by those we serve, the associates we employ, and our competitors.” As part of that vision, he implemented the idea of serving whole, fresh, scratch-made foods and eliminating preservatives and “junk” in our food. Thad clearly understood the healing power of food and that we need to be part of the healthcare solution.
When this concept of REAL food first took place at Thomas Cuisine in 2011, we started with a few small changes, like watching iodized salt usage and removing vending machines. In 2015, we introduced the REAL food campaign that color coded food with red, yellow, or green icons. The color coding was based on criteria, measuring the health benefits of ingredients and preparation methods of each offering. It was eventually decided that the red icons carried a negative stigma, and we wanted to provide a more positive method of informing our patrons about their food choices.
We then modified our REAL food campaign, focusing on our vision of providing a balance of great tasting, healthy food to combine health and wellness. Fast forward to 2018 and REAL food was no longer a singular promotion, campaign, or station concept. It has grown into a central component of our mission: REAL food, genuine service, and enduring relationships.

To us, REAL food is flavorful, healing, nutritious, and comes from natural ingredients. We don’t have to color code dining options, because all that we offer is exceptional quality, prepared by passionate culinary teams. We see the need in our industry to provide service that revolves around the best tasting, most nutritious food available. REAL food is our mission and our future. It’s what Thomas Cuisine lives by; it’s what Thad Thomas proposed when he told us to be unique and different, and it’s what sets us apart from our competition.
